the romance of it all
there is so much romance in life, that we miss
maybe because we don't look
or we don't expect
i don't know - but i know that it is out there
out there waiting for us
smells and sounds and tastes and feelings
beautiful feelings of satisfaction - even if only for a moment
but what happens when a moment becomes the moment?
the moment when things changed
when a memory, to last a lifetime, was created
i will explore and allow my journey of life to touch me
i will find the romance in it all
the romance of it all

a little disappointed...
i was fortunate to see the film called the wrestler and it was amazing and painful and very, very real. the film tells the story of a wrestler who was once an american icon but had become a struggling has-been just trying to live, after allowing the typical evils of celebrity and fame, destroy his family and his life. trying to pick up the last few pieces of his shambled life, this wrestler shows his vulnerability, sadness, pain, joy, and all other types of traits and emotions that plague and affect us all. and so the movie is almost summed up in this incredible song by Bruce Springsteen, which plays for the first time in the film's closing scene and through the credits. it is very touching. very touching. and somehow, this didn't make the cut for Oscar nominations. i don't get it. i am very disappointed with thier failure to recognize this song as one of the best of last year.
Here is the music video for Bruce Springsteen's The Wretler
you can hear the full song here

the polar-revival is underway
the news of polaroid shutting down and discontinuing the production of analog instant film, spread rapidly last year. and many people, including myself ran out to by up as much film as we could from anywhere that sold the "soon to be" extinct film.
good news. they are back! read the story here.
and if you don't have a polaroid camera, do your creative self a favor and pick one up here for just $25.
(these may not last too long at blackbird, so you can also check craigslist or your local pawn shop for one.)

...something God forgot to curse.
"I was in love once. I think love is a bit of heaven. When I was in love, I thought about that girl so much I felt like I was going to die and it was beautiful, and she loved me, too, or at least she said she did, and we were not about ourselves, we were about each other, and that is what I mean when I say being in love is a bit of heaven. When I was in love I hardly thought of myself; I thought of her and how beautiful she looked and whether or not she was cold or how I could make her laugh. It was wonderful because I forgot my problems. I owned her problems instead, and her problems seemed romantic and beautiful. When I was in love there was somebody in the world who was more important than me, and that, given all that happened at the fall of man, is a miracle, like something God forgot to curse. " - Donald Miller
Madame Tutli- Putli
this is may be the best stop motion-animated film I have ever seen. it is a short but it is packed with brilliance. the concept and the attention to detail caused me to pause the film several time and just gaze in awe at the handiwork of Chris and Maciek.
story line- great
aesthetics- amazing
characters- good research fellas
but the thing that set this film apart (for me) were the eyes.
enough talk, here is the full film. (it is 17 min. long)
